Health Insurance Eligibility & Enrollment for New Hires
Restaurant Life LLC d/b/a Galuppi’s offers health insurance benefits in accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to employees who meet eligibility requirements.
Who May Be Eligible for Coverage
Health insurance coverage may be offered to:
- Full-time employees, and
- Employees who become eligible based on Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) hour calculations, as determined under ACA guidelines.
Eligibility is based on hours worked and employment status, and not all employees are automatically eligible at hire.
New Hire Eligibility & Waiting Period
New hires who meet eligibility requirements may become eligible for health insurance coverage:
- After completing a waiting period of up to 60 days, or
- Once eligibility is confirmed through ACA hour-based measurement and FTE calculations, if applicable.
Eligibility determinations are made in accordance with ACA regulations and company policy.
Offer of Coverage
If a new hire is determined to be eligible:
- An offer of health insurance coverage will be made as required by law.
- Enrollment materials and instructions will be provided at that time.
- Coverage elections must be completed within the required enrollment window stated in the offer.
Failure to enroll within the designated timeframe may result in the employee having to wait until the next open enrollment period, unless a qualifying life event occurs.
How Eligibility Is Tracked
Galuppi’s uses ACA-compliant measurement methods to track employee eligibility, which may include:
- Hours worked
- Look-back or monthly measurement periods
- Employment classification
Eligibility determinations are reviewed on an ongoing basis and may change if an employee’s work schedule changes.
Important Notes
- Eligibility does not guarantee enrollment unless the employee completes the required election process.
- Coverage is not retroactive.
- Employees are responsible for reviewing benefit materials and making timely elections.
- Insurance offerings, eligibility rules, and waiting periods are subject to change in accordance with applicable law.
